Welcome to my corner of the world.

Who am I?  I'm a woman.  I'm an engineer.  I'm a dreamer and a doer.  I'm a risk-taker, definitely.  I'm a sister, a daughter, an aunt.  I hope someday to be a mother.  If I do something, I give it my all.  My heart and soul goes into my work, my projects, my relationships with those I love.  I'm nearly always exactly on time because I believe it's rude to keep someone waiting.  I wake at the same time each day even without setting the alarm.  I believe in God, old souls, and an afterlife.

What do I love?  I love to read.  I love to knit, to talk, to spend a few hours with those I love, or even just those whose company I enjoy.  I love sewing even though I sometimes do not have the patience it requires.  I love a good mug of coffee and a good glass of wine, though not at the same time.  I love food, good food, simply prepared.  Nothing is better than a freshly baked piece of bread with a pat of Irish butter on top or a bowl of steamed broccoli.  I love my home even though I am living away from it right now.  I love my family, my friends, and those I'll love someday but haven't yet met.

I love a rainy day, one where you know that spring is just around the next corner.  I love the first snow of winter.  I love the week or two in autumn where you know the color is at it's peak.

I love dogs - not the little yappy ones, but the big, lumbering hound dogs that want nothing more than to love you in return.  I love my cat, though sometimes I don't, like when I find he's dug at the carpet in the corner of the room just because he was bored.  I love planting flowers and digging weeds.  I love men with accents, no matter the country they're from.  I love a bicycle ride on a warm summer day, and dangling my feet in the water at the lake.

I'm not a goal-setting kind of person.  I'm more of a come-what-may type, I think.  I believe in going where life takes you.  If you try to plan your life down to the millisecond you might miss out on some of the best that life may offer.  I am always willing to try something new, and I'm not smart enough to know I can't do something.  I have more common sense in my pinkie then some people have in their entire body.  I think fast, work hard, and live fully.

Why start a blog?  I'll be honest - I've started them before, and didn't stick.  I think I'm at a point in my life, though, where what I've learned could be shared with others.  I've gone from quite well-off to losing everything, and slowly I've come back from what was probably the worst year of my life.  I lost my dog, my house, my car, my business - when I finally found a full-time position it was 400 miles from home.  But perseverance is one of my strongest assets.

I'd like to share my journey out of debt, my struggles with losing weight, and all of the other trials and tribulations that life sends my way.  And I'll share the triumphs and successes, as well.  I'd love to hear from you, if you'd like to share your own story.

To be continued...
